He Wolf

Go and watch the original here LOL city!

Fargo

Benefit of being called in on your day off to cover for someone your breakfast is baguette and goat cheese! I love my job! Anyway came home, did some yoga to try and reduce the stiffness of my body and then biked a good seventeen miles.

I watched Fargo for the first time tonight and it's a great film I would recommend it to anyone who has yet to watch it. Oh and the accents and Minnesota nice that they do in the movie is what most people do in this state like it or not.

Back at you

The muscles in my back are so tense that my jaw is killing me most of the time, mostly due to the fact that I haven't done any Yoga not even Wii Fit Yoga in two months and it's killing me! So tomorrow I get back on the band wagon just so I don't feel like this any more it makes working that much harder.

Areas circled in red are the worse for pain...

83 people looked at my blog yestarday!@ I would like to thanks them and Sondre Lerche for luring them here! I just hope they come back for seconds!

Work has been like "Whoa" all over the place! It's nice being busy and all but I know it's just going to slow done so I figure I kill myself now for the man and then I'll take his money and save it away so when the snow falls I can runaway to some place warm.

So I am going to my step-brothers wedding in a week and I need to get a rental car for it cause as much as I love the Green Hornet she just isn't going to get there and back without exploding I feel... So yeah I am going to spend something around 300 dollars or so on this four day trip to the south and I am going to damn well enjoy the shit out of myself! I am going to where my favourite pink shirt and make some people uncomfortable with my Udoness! It's going to awesome!

I am currently reading this guys Blog it's amazing! You should all go and read it just for fun and laughs... Mostly laughs!

He was so right it's been raining on and off all day seems this Indian summer we have been having is being destroyed by the fall monster. Suck!

So

Right now I am pretty sure that there are parts of my body that are headed into shut down mood due to the amount of abuse that I put my body through and I think it's awesome! I really need to clean the living room and my bathroom though the kitchen and bathroom have stayed pretty clean since I've been home but I am sure that will change as soon as it get colder outside.

I biked to home despot cause the lock on my screen door broke which in it's self is just an odd ass thing to happen but anyway I bought the new lock and as I was leaving one of the cashier types asked me about the toe shoes she said she even remember the last time I was there with them on! Man, I've got to figure out a way to make some cash from all the recommendation I give Vibram and their crazy shoes!

Awesome

I don't know what to write mostly cause I think anything I have to say is boring and would just people to sleep or making them want to delete this Blog if possible. I could talk about my day or work but I really just feel like none of it is interesting at all. Eh...

Anyway today I got a lot of stuff done, oil change,  tires balance or whatever, biked around the lake, went to work. Speaking of working I have been cooking for these old women who are they doing a craft fair thing and it's like crafternoon all over the place and these women are such a hoot! Man, I can't wait to be old!

I just love cooking for these women not only are the coffee fiends drinking around 250 cups of coffee per person! I am not joking they really do drink an insane amount of coffee I think some of them just have IV bags of coffee hidden underneath their cat sweaters. I guess I just love being in front of a group of people who laugh when I tell them what they are going to eat and the history behind it since some groups just sort of stare at me wait for their food to come out of the kitchen so they can eat and get on with their day.

Tomorrow I work at Finnish... should be a good time!

Cats

I would like to introduce everyone to the furry-four-legged-poop-machines that live in my house with me... The orange one is Mel who I have taken to call "Orange" now a days and the fat one that she is sitting on is Monk who I now call "Fatty". I never thought that having cats would be such a wonderful pain in the ass at times though I love them to death I sometimes wish I could turn them into handbags! Fancy handbags for rich old women from the Bronx with to much time and money on their hands.
Monk just wants you to love him... all the time! In the morning when I wake up I tend to sit on the couch I am still asleep really the bone move cause the nerves tell them to but really I could still be half awake for at least another ten minutes if not more. Anyway, Monk always I mean always try to get in my lap or on my side or in face just purring away like he was drunk on just seeing me move again... I hate this! I am trying to wake up and the last thing I need is cat butt and god-know-when o'clock every morning.
Mel is a ninja warrior princess and will attack anything smaller or slightly larger then herself and if she can she will eat it. Mel often attacks Monk who is twice her size but guess who almost always wins... Mel the smaller cat who I am sure Monk could just punt across the room if he wanted to but he just take it like a man... or an abused boyfriend. She also chirps like a bird which is cute at first but it will drive you crazy after a while especially at five in the morning when you're just trying to get some sleep.

Beethoven Hero?

Quick trip to see the President

Five hours in a car, less five hours of sleep, three hours in line, two hours of seating trying to fall asleep waiting President to speak. That was my Saturday and let me tell you it was well worth it. There is something to be said about having the President of the country you live in come to your state and speak to about how you can change the debate on health-care how you can make the change happen. That is why I went, that is why I spent way to much time in a car and even less time sleeping so I could see for myself if the President was telling the truth about health-care reform if he really believed everything he said and all I can say is a resounding "YES". I enjoyed the speech it was personable but yet had enough detail to clam the minds of those who still wonder where to detail was in Obama health-care plan.

I am happy I went! Getting to see the President is something I think everyone should do in their life if the chance presents itself, it allows you to realize that the President is human and not some evil demon who wants to eat your children and kill your grandmother. Let's just hope health-care reform get's passed and one day everyone in this great country will having something most other countries take for granted... Healthcare!

Here is the speech via youtube, enjoy!

No subject needed

I am going to Minneapolis on Saturday to see the President!!! I'll be leaving Bemidji right after work head straight down to the cities hopefully getting there around seven or eight at night. I'll be staying with Robo which is super exciting since I haven't seen him in a few months and he lives close enough to the Target Center that we can just walk there instead of taking the bus or biking but sadly we'll have to wake up around 5 or even earlier if we want to get good seat but it's well worth! Plus, both Al Franken and R.T Rybak are going to be there I really can't turn down this opportunity how often does the President come to Minnesota outside of an election year anyway?

As for the health care speech? It's been analyzed to death by people more educated then I ,who like to hear themselves talk more then I do, which is saying a lot. It was a good speech and I think it got the point across of what Obama wants to do for the American Healthcare system. I was also struck about how rude the GOP was during the speech including the "You lie" outburst by Joe Wilson, which has been a bit of a boon to not only for Obama but also Rob Miller who is running against Joe Wilson. Joe Miller has raised 644,000 in the last 24 hour mostly via dailykos.com and the actblue PAC which claims to be "the online clearhouse of Democratic action" if you would like to donate to Joe please do it here

Jason and I have gone biking the last few days and it's nice to have someone to go biking with and it allows me to keep pace with someone else and just keep myself from killing myself everyday. More ant sex yesterday, more ants smacking into you at 17mph and if your Jason the go into your ears and mouth. Hopefully that was the last time we will have to deal with ant sex this year.

Last thing, I played some pinball today at the arcade in the mall I paid for ten games and I got nine or eight for free from the machine. Sadly it wasn't the Lord of the Rings pinball game but Pirates of the Caribbean which isn't nearly as fun LOTR pinball but it had it's moments.

Obama!

The President is coming to Minneapolis on Saturday and I am thinking about going to the event though I am surprisingly still on fence about going just because I know it's just going to be a zoo but it's the President... I'll think about it tomorrow on my day off though still nothing to thinking about really I just don't want to spend the money on gas since I didn't budget for it but that is a lame reason I think.

Anyway, I am going to go and watch the President's Speech

Way to much soup...

Soup is my favourite thing to make not only is it ridiculous easy thing to make but you can make a ton of it at once and then freeze it for days, weeks, and even months to come never having to worry about dinner since there is always soup ready to be thawed in the freezer.

I have been meaning to make a ton of soup for the last few days but other things came up like trying to save Buttertop or something shiny caught my eye like the nice weather and I just didn't get to it till tonight.

That's five pounds of mushrooms, carrots, and
potatoes, two heads of celery and two onions.
If you are thinking my that's a lot of vegetable for one soup you are right but when I put in the order at work I thought it wouldn't be enough. It's hard going from cooking for 160 people to yourself, I swear, really! It is!

I always use the food processor my mother gave me
to do the slicing and grating for my soups. Thanks Mom!
1. Add olive oil and onion to the stock pot, cook until clear.
2. Add sliced celery and grated carrots... try to cook.
3. Add Mushrooms... Realize there isn't all that much room left.
Add water, potatoes, and ignore the lack space left in the pot.
4. Realize you still have to put in lentils and quinoa into the pot
remove a bbq jugs worth of soup and then add the lentils and quinoa.

5. Cook for a long time until everything is done except the potatoes
that are almost done but you aren't going to wait until they are done.

6. Put soup in cute little tupperware containers your mother bought you.

7. Put forty meals worth of soup into the freezer hoping that
the still hot soup doesn't thaw your freezer completely...

8. Smile for the camera!

I normally puree the crap out of the soup before I freeze it but I decided not to as it would hopefully allow me to feel more full after eating and give my stomach something to do to keep me from overeating. I almost cooled the soup in the bath tub first before putting it in the freezer but that would have meant putting in the freezer before I go to bed and that my friends is to much work and I am le tired.

Prius, reply

So I got a reply from the guy who is "selling" the prius and I am unsure how to respond to it.

"Hi,
I am selling this car because my platoon has been sent back to Afghanistan and don't want it get old in my backyard. The price is low because I need to sell it before September 25. It has no damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained and hasn't been involved in any accident..I do have the title , clear, under my name.
It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad $4800. The car is in Cedar Falls,IA in case it gets sold I will take care of shipping. Let me know if you are interested, email back.
Regards!!!"
Thoughts? Anyone?

Update 22:06

Thanks to Peder who used a silly thing called Google to find out that the Prius is a scam (fancy that) and I will not be spending any more time thinking about it. Moral of the story always listen to your gut and ignore the deal it's usually shady and not like a tree.

Obama's Back to School speech

Well I read the prepared remark of President Obama back to school speech that he will give tomorrow to school children across the country and it seems rather umm... boring, uplifting, and well a typical Obama. He lays out how his life has wasn't the easiest thing in the world and how he's mother worked hard to make sure he received a world class education. If anything this speech is harmless it's nothing more then the President of the Untied States of America encouraging the youth of America to be more then themselves to work harder not only for themselves but for the country as a whole.

I am sure there will be more noise about how Obama is trying to brainwash our children, make our children into little socialist, and what not but personally I think it's more sub-conscious racial reaction more then anything else. God forbid that there is a positive African American male role model for all the children in America.

The President isn't a Nazi, Socialist, or White Racist, he's just a human being trying to fix a broken country. It's easy to demonize Obama but much harder to humanize him with all the racial baggage that most Americans carry around our collective necks. Please read the speech for yourself here and I would love to hear your reaction to it.

2006 Prius only 4,800 dollars...

I was looking around the Bemidji craigslist when I find the most insanely cheap price for a Prius that I think I have every seen! Check it out for yourself here, crazy isn't it? I mean a 2006 Prius should be going for a lot more then that considering how insanely popular they but then again maybe there is something wrong with it? I sent the person selling this email
"Only 4800 dollars for a 2006 Prius? really? Is there anything wrong with it? Sorry to ask such question I just don't understand why it's so cheap! I wouldn't mind looking at it but really only 4800 dollars?"

Yes, I know I sounded like a jerk but the idea of a Prius for only 4,800 dollars in Bemidji Mn just seems like Sci-fi to me. Right now in my saving account I have 5,000 dollars and I could buy this car. Just the thought of getting rid of my car and replace it was a Prius at such a great deal causes my heart rate to go up which tells me that "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" Hamlet Act 1, scene 4, 87–91

Check this out, it's pretty much the same car but at 19,995 dollars which seems to be the price I would think you'd sell a three year old Prius for not 4,800 dollars that seem way to cheap. Man, I am writing myself out of even wanting to buy this car aren't I?

I mean come on, Toyota just past the two million mark on Priuses sold for the love of mike and someone in Northern Minnesota is selling off theirs for only 4,800 dollars? It almost sounds like e-mail spam "Dear Sir, My name is Prince and I am willing to sell you my 2006 Prius for the price of 4,8000 American dollars. Just please click this link (which would take you to some crazy pirate site that would ask for all your banking info and then take over your computer) and fill out these forms and we will get back to you with the location of the Prius. Sincerely  Prince

This post is much longer then I thought it was going to be... Sorry about that, really I am... I'll write more when if hear back from the seller.

Philipp Poisel

There are very few German singer song writers I know about and out of all of them Philipp Poisel is the best. He's ability to put so much emotion and energy into his music never cease to amaze me! My friend Maren sent me his CD from Germany last year and if it was possible to wear out .Mp3 files I would have done just that having listen to it a few hundred times now. Even if you don't speak a word of German his music is still very accessible to an English speaker and anyway with some singers and some songs word do not seem to matter. So please sit back and relax and let the music take you some place else.

The resurrection of Buttertop

Back in July, I sadly poured four pounds of melted butter on myself and my laptop and I was rather stunned as to what just happened. I mean really who the hell does this? Butter, four pounds of liquid butter all over the laptop, half of my t-shirt and the floor and oh the floor... Sorry about the Levi! I rushed to remove the butter from the laptop preforming surgery on it first behind the kitchen and then in the break room. Alas it was all for not, all I had was a buttery covered laptop, and a t-shirt that smelled like movie theater popcorn. The lappy was dead, and I removed the parts to make sure they could one day be harvested for another laptop. Thankfully, Bodo, a former German Assistant Cook and now tech Guru turned the hard drive it into a external drive. All my music, movies, photos and even my Firefox bookmarks were saved and then I reformatted the drive and turned it into a extra back up drive.

Fast forward to this morning around 8:30, I am cleaning the trunk of my car looking for my heart rate monitor and I see Buttertop covered in junk and I hit the power button and guess what... It started again!

I was so happy, I put the hard drive back in and installed the newest version of Ubuntu 9.04 and everything went well as one can see. Woot 5%!
Look I am using the Internet, downloading updates, playing music and what not... Sadly the butter has gotten into the monitor too.
Looks like my monitor has spent some time eating fastfood while it was in the trunk.

I can't stand having butter in the monitor so I took it apart not taking a break to eat or drink and I even put my father on speaker phone so I could continue working on this crazy project of mine. When I want to do something I get tunnel vision and can only focus on that project until it's finished or not...

Notice the parts of the monitor all over the coffee table. To be honest I should have just stopped,I should have just lived with it and enjoyed having my old lappy back but no I had to ruin it a second time.

Buttertop sans monitor.

It's 11:51 the screens are clean, I used windex to clean off the butter and it worked pretty well for windex. At this time I thought I was in the home stretch the thought of two laptops just running wild in my head. Sadly that was not the case.

Around 1:30ish or so I realized that I am sure there are companies that sell LCD Monitors to people who break theirs and the whole "clean-the-butter-out-of-the-monitor" was moot. I found a good site but it can't give me a price and the prices I do find for a new monitor are anywhere between 89-150 dollars which I am not really going to spend on the buttertop as much as I would like to it's just an exercise in stupidity, like oh taking a cat on a walk.

After eight hours of work on something that I shouldn't have even started in the first place I boxed the laptop and maybe someday I'll get back to good old Butterytop but I am not really sure when or really why I would. The hard drive still works and so does that sound card and everything else it just needs a working monitor.

Caturday

Nothing of importance here just Caturday pictures.

This concludes your Caturday.

Lentil Harvest

In May I planted some lentils just for kicks to see if anything would grow and guess what... Out of the 36 or so seeds that I planted about half of them grew to maturity and if I had pay more attention to the lentils and  watered them more often, maybe they wouldn't have died with the pods still growing and trying to mature. Sadly, some of the pods were dead or had crazy small lentils inside which is something I should have known but being away for six weeks does not help much when you're trying to grow some lentils in your backyard.
The lentil plants ready to be picked though they're
sadly half dead.

Orange wondering what I am doing.
De-podding lentils pods.

Orange helping me sort the lentils
               and trying to eat them...

 The finished product!

So I now have not even a fourth of a cup of lentils to do something with like make a soup though it's not enough to make a soup so I am probably going to just plant them in the spring and try to pay more attetion to them next summer. One day i'll grow enough lentils that I won't have buy them any more at the CO-OP.

Take flight you mating ants

Today was the start of ant mating season here in the North woods of Minnesota and if any of you are wondering what exactly ant mating is check out this excerpt from Wikipedia's article on Ants

"During the short breeding period, the reproductives, excluding the colony queen, are carried outside where other colonies of similar species are doing the same. Then, all the winged breeding ants take flight. Mating occurs in flight and the males die shortly afterwards."

I would just like to point out that in the insect world the male only seems to have one purpose in his short life that being to mate with the usually larger female and then promptly die, leaving the female to do all the work while the male just turns back into the carbon he came from single parenting at it's best I guess.

Anyway, so I am riding my bike around Lake Bemidji today at an average speed of 19 MPH/30 KPH minding my own business and enjoying the last of the warm summer days and I have mating ants crashing into me like asteroids hitting the moon before I know it I have just rode right into the middle of ant sex. Now I can only guess what walking in on other people having sex is like and my guess would be awkward and disgusting (depend on who is it and what not) but at least they aren't flying around slamming into you getting into your mouth, helmet, sunglasses and at one point left ear, I think. When I got home an hour later I wasn't covered in ants but I had a few dead male drones in my leg hair and female queen on my right shoe. Hopefully tomorrow I won't have to relive the experience of slamming into flying ant sex at 19 MPH then again it's a lot better then slamming into fly human sex at 19 MPH which would involve a plane of some sorts and I would assume is illegal in most states of the union minus Texas and maybe Missouri.

Random need to start a blog

There really is no need for this blog... All ego and maybe a little soul but I have found that at times in my life, I feel the need to write even if my grammar is rather crap and words oddly placed. I have spent the better part of two hours trying to figure out what to write. Two hours of wandering around my head looking for something to write about and really not finding anything of substance then again who wants substance, just give me the fat and I will chew on it.

I am now home for the first time in three months and the house does not seem to be all the worse for wear beside the crazy amount of cat fur all over the place thanks to my quadruped roommates Fatty and Orange both of which are more then happy that I am home and slept on me for two hours on Sunday night. It's funny how I have finally seem to feel at home inside these four walls though I have own this house for two in a half years and it now feel like home. Hopefully, I'll be able to remodel it to look like it does in my head and less... well crap.
