End of the summer.

Waldsee is always a very strange place after the summer. I can never get over the lack of villagers and it take me some time to adjust to how quiet and peaceful everything is when I am there during the school year. I am tired. I am not in school. I once over heard kids say "Udo doesn't exist outside of Waldsee he just melts into the walls of the Gasthof when we leave and come back when we show up" there are times when I wish that was a true statement, sadly it's not. I gets so used to having people around me 24/7 that after the summer I am scared of the silence and the peace. I am confused by the lack of god awful weckdienst in the morning and sharing a room with someone else. I am starting to see that all I need in life is a group of people who want to live simply in peace with what they have and are happy with that over again else in life. I will write more after I have had some to think about the past three months.

I leave you to it.

If you can spare the cash I suggest going out and buying the debut album from the British band Mumford and Sons. Check out their website if you have the time to spare http://www.mumfordandsons.com/. Their music is very focused on the loneliness of love and trying to find some sort of high power whilst jamming on a mandolin.

"And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no"
Yes, my heart told my head
"This time no
This time no"

I don't want to get all emo about song lyrics cause that's not me but how god damn profound is that chorus? How many times has any one ever felt that in their lives?

Alright, bed time.

?

Ah! That is all, only problem I have with being on vacation is I just feel like I am not doing anything but, I am. In other news Hurt Locker beat Avatar so there has to be a higher power out there right? Though the Academy Awards seemed sort of odd and at time just out of place with the rest of the world to me. The tribute to John Hughes was just very out of place I think, he was a very good director but really, ten minutes or so devoted to him? Sort of a waste of time in a show that is notorious for going over time in the last few years, I think the show clocked in at three in a half hours? So it goes...

Vblog

Starting out

Kids by MGMT has been playing in my head over and over again since last night when I listened to it while biking. It's a good song but the real music video is just super messed up... If you have the time go watch it on youtube or at their website.

I am leaving for a vacation on the 28th of this month until March 14th to Tulsa to see my father. It should be fun if not relaxing I am really just looking forward to spending time with my dad before coming back to a crazy busy work and school environment, well it could be crazy, could be really easy, I really shouldn't second guess the future. I am going to drive down which will be cheap then flying but a bit slower time wise though I think it's worth in the long wrong plus if I get bored or start going crazy at my father's place I can just leave for a bit.

I would like to start a video blog now that I have a new webcam but the software that came with it isn't working all that great and tends to freeze up when I try to record anything. Very annoying but what can you do besides try to trouble shoot the shit out the problem.

No need

I am taking a two week vacation start February 28th to March 14th! Usually I would go to Europe for a while or some where super amazing but I am headed off to wonderful Tulsa... That's where my father lives and I am unsure as to what I'll do for two weeks in Tulsa but I'll spend some time with the old man that I can reflect back on later in life or something like that. I am also going to drive down there now that my car radio is fixed it will make the trip a lot less painful and If I am get sick of my parents or bored I can drive myself some where else for a while. Score.

In other news I received my admission packet from BSU!!! How awesome is that? I am going to fill it all out tomorrow morning and try to get it all sent out before I forget to do it.

College

Sorry I don't update all that often its just something I don't think about until I am about to go to bed. So instead of updating I go to sleep, makes sense right? Anyway, I got into Bemidji State University!! How awesome is that? I looking forward to signing up for classes and getting all that stuff worked out and then there is paying all sort of money for books!! I am so ready for school right now it's going to be a challenge that I am sure of but it's nothing I can't do as long as I have everyones support and I ask for help when it's needed.

Precinct caucuses were on Tuesday night and R.T. Rybak received the most votes which is great but at the same time it was only by 1% which isn't overwhelming at all. Sadly there were only six people at my ward caucus which isn't all that great of a number but we were all made delegates to the country caucus which is on the 28th of February at BSU. Hopefully from there I can go to the state convention and help support Rybak in getting the DFL nod for governor. Though Mark Dayton is going right to the primary in September which is a bit annoying to me but it's in the future and I can't predict the future now can I?

Avatar, what?

Right, not done blogging...

Sexy Back

iTablet will cure cancer and people will like your more!

While I wait for the newest episode of Shameless to download and for Apple to release the glory that will be their new iTablet, iPad, iBook or whatever you want to call it. Why not update the blog?

I had a meeting with the head of the nursing department to discuss what I would have to do to become a nursing student. It was a very informative meeting and she told me a something I totally didn't even pay attention to at the time I applied to BSU. I would have to take a CNA course at the Tech school in town before I can apply for the nursing major my sophomore year at BSU. At first this news scared the shit out of me since there is a class this spring that I could take and get it out of the way but man, school so soon... Boo.
But after buying some food at the Co-op and buying some new kick ass Haus Schuhe I had calmed down enough to just process what a CNA is and what doors it could open up.

With a CNA I could get a job at a nursing home that would allow me to work hopefully around forty hours a week and still be a full time student. This is something I feel I wouldn't be able to do at CLV and it would just cause me more stress trying to get enough hours to pay my cost of living but also have time to go to school. Mind you this is all in the future so I am not really going to worry about it but it might be a good plan if it all comes together, it comes together and if not it's still a great cert to have. If I hate just getting my CNA I will know that being a nurse is going to be way to hard for me and can figure out what to do in the fall and get my general eds out of the way. Either way I am pretty sure I am signed up for the class and I am looking forward to going back to school for something after years off. If I can juggle my CNA class and work I should be golden for the next four years... right?

I bought Mass Effect 2 on opening night and so far it a pretty solid game  and feels more developed then the last Mass Effect plus you don't have to drive the fraking Mako around anymore which is more then enough to get me to do more while playing the game. You know longer have to run around looking for minerals on planets, now you scan for them and shoot off probes to stake your claim in minerals that you need to upgrade items. The combat system is now more like Halo then Mass Effect which has made it a bit harder for me since I am used to that sort of game play but I am getting used to it even if I have to replay the same events over and over again. Anyway enough blogging for now.

Quick Note

Sorry, I will update soonish!  I have been somewhat busy though it's mostly been Mass Effect and Mass Effect two so yeah it's nothing like work or school busy just lazy busy.

Busy!

Applied to BSU, hopefully I will hear back soon then I can plan out how I am going to balance work, school, social life, and so forth or the summer. I chose to major in nursing for now but I am pretty sure I will enjoy it and the classes look pretty interesting just hope I can get it done in four years. Made a new batch of soup to hold me over and while and then cleaned up the mess that I made making the soup which is always rather epic but I usually just ignore it for days and then clean it up when it's all crusty...

In other news when you have 41 senators to 59 senators you're are able to over ride the 18 other of the other party and take control of the senate. It's a new rule that I heard about from fox news, oh Scott Brown cures cancer, just like Obama did... I'll start listening to the news again soon but for now I prefer to ignore the pundits and play Mass Effect in my underwear.

Scott Brown for the win... Boo!

Leave it to the Democratic party to lose a senate seat in fucking Massachusetts, it doesn't even makes sense until you realize that over the last six week Coakley  only had 16 events compared to Browns 66. If you are going to run for office you have to campaign otherwise no one will vote for you it's that simple! Obama didn't win because he was black he won because he worked himself to the bone and made sure everyone around him worked just as hard! That's how you win an election you can't just assume the D next to your name is going to get you elected that's just beyond stupid and makes your a worthless candidate.

I understand why Brown was elected and it makes sense to me since the party that control all three branches of government can't even seem to get their act together and pass health care reform bill without a super majority in the senate... How crazy is that? Why oh why do we have to have sixty votes to get anything done in the senate? Just let people filibuster until they fall over and then vote. I would like Obama to grab the Dem leadership by the neck and shake them out a bit! It's really bad for moral when you lose Edward Kennedy seat to a former Cosmo pin up...

In other news I have appointment with the admission office at BSU on Thursday at ten o'clock so I can see what I need to do to enroll next fall and find out what I can majour in. Right now I am thinking either Hospice Nurse or Nutritionist something along those lines, maybe even early childhood development I just want something that will help people in need the most. I am over my anxiety about going back to school and I am looking forward to it so much so it has put be in a very good mood for the last few days.

Well I am off to bed, I have to work at seven in the morning and I already know we will be listening to MPR all day and the coverage is going to be non-stop about Brown winning. Man I know what the GOP felt like after the Dem wave in 2006.

Special Election

So as many of you know there is a special election in Massachusetts for Ted Kennedy's seat next Tuesday now I of course support Martha Coakley against Scott Brown but since I don't live in Massachusetts I really haven't be paying any real attention to race cause I just assumed that Coakley was going to win over Brown.

As I am sure this wonderful chart has shown Coakley isn't polling very well right now and there is only a few more days until the vote and Obama is going to be in Mass tomorrow at an event for Coakley. Of course if Coakley loses the senate seat it will be all Obama's fault anyway cause it always is his fault not the fault of the Democrats on a national level who have failed to come together and support the will of the people they are supposed to work for but continue to just whine and bitch about everything. Look I am all for Health Care Reform and most things the Democratic party want to push through but I can't stand the lack of foresight  of the party in general. Stop worrying about re-election and get something done for the people who are just trying to get by with what little they have.

If Scott Browns wins on Tuesday night will the Democrats come together and realize that if they don't get their collective acts together this November isn't going to be all that pretty for them. The super majority in the Senate hasn't really seemed to do anything for the Democratic Senators beside make each one king maker of any bill that is trying to get passed in the Senate. So maybe losing it will shake things up? I really think the focus should be getting things done and focusing the media's monkey mind attention on the fact that the GOP does nothing but say "No"  to everything the President wants and then whines when he tries to work with them on anything just anything even the fraking wars started by the last President.

Good luck and good night

Sometimes...

I should just keep my mouth shut or sit on my hands cause most people don't have my sense of humour or understand it. In other news today wasn't as amazingly random as yesterday but I guess I am ok with that for now at least.

Went back to work today officially i.e. I wasn't called in to cover someone else's shift and it was a a nice eight hours shift at the Skogfjorden which is always nice espeically when it's for a Norsk programmer and I get to eat Jarlsberg and Gjetost cheese both of which I haven't had in month. I really love family programme at work there is nothing like hearing the language of the village being spoken by young and old over good food and stories, it's really a great way to learn any language I think. Now if Tove was there that would just make my weekend but I get to see her enough in the summer.

I am on second two of Doogie Howser M.D. and I have around ten hours left of Mass Effect and then I'll be ready for Mass Effect 2... Ah yes I love my nerdyness at times, cause really the trailers for Mass Effect 2 just look ridiculous and I need something to escape to every now and again even though I really should but whatever that's just old hat by now in my life.

Oh I am trying to fund raise for R.T. Rybak
http://www.rtrybak.com/page/outreach/view/sample/Udo

It's kind of hard to fund raise when there are so many great people running that and 7% unemployment in the state make it hard for people who are hard core political addicts like myself to care at this point. I also think there is a bit of fatigue in most Americans in politics right now since nothing seems to be getting done on anything and no one is really coming together on any thing. It's able about the now and never about the future it seems and though that might work for living ones life I am not so sure about governing a people. That said I am still ever hopefully that some day everyone will realize that when there is a common goal for everyone to work for real change can happen. I voted for Obama and I am very proud of that vote! So far he's been a pretty great president compared to Bush and I wish him the best of luck on his next three years in office.

One last thought, if no one mocked Rush Limbaugh for saying obvious stupid and phoney bull shit would he go away? At times I wonder if he just saying things to get the press to listen to him for a while. It's like a child that wants the attention of it's parents and therefore does something it shouldn't just to get a seconds of attention.

Random day

So I never really plan my days, I have a rough plan but it's mostly like buy food today or deal with bills today but never anything super real unless I am travelling then almost everything is super planned out.

Today was supposed to be my last day off before going back to work tomorrow but Jason was sick this morning so I went in for him. Six hours and two cleaner kitchen later I am done and instead of going home I head to the DC to talk to my boss and the rest of the crew that I haven't seen in a month!! Salome wants me back at Mar e which is great news!! Now I am just waiting to hear back from Karl about second half of the summer, maybe I'll be back at the Mar... Salome also said she'd try and look for some money to spend me to Portugal this spring if possible which would be very cool considering I have never been there and just a week there would improve the food at Mar e Floresta by one hundred percent if not more. I'll send Karl an email this weekend and hopefully hear back from him otherwise I am going to start planning a trip to Portugal.

Anyway... I was chatting with Martin about the state of things at work and life in general when I mention something about R.T. Rybak who I am supporting for Governor and turns out R.T was going to be in town at a forum that started at 5:30 and it was 5:00 so I got in my car and head towards BSU. The event was great fun I loved watching the people at it! The DFL candidates pretty much speed dated nine groups of people changing spots after eight minutes though it took them longer to move around because it was hard for some of them to stop talking. Out of the nine candidates present Matt Entenza and R.T. Rybak really impressed me, I'd happily vote for either one of them and even Mark Dayton was pretty impressive to me though to be rather honest I could support anyone of the candidates I met tonight. The highlight of the night though was when R.T. Rybak sat next to me while I was eating my Indian taco he said I should get involved in local politics and try to get on the school board and work my way up from there! R.T. just seems crazy energetic and that is what I like about him I feel like he could just make things happen better and faster then anyone else running. Did you know he meets every single high school freshman in Minneapolis? Who does that?

Time to pass out.

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Went to work on Monday that was fun. No... really I enjoyed being back at work since I am not a fan of being unemployed or taking unemployment. Speak of which from what I have heard about other states unemployment systems I would like to thank Minnesota's for not being a total cluster. There is one thing that could be improved that being the amount of mail sent to me, even though  I gave the unemployment people my email address and so far everything I have gotten would be fine via email. It costs the state 35 cents every time the send me a piece of mail and with 7% of Minnesotan unemployment the cost could really add up. It wouldn't be a huge savings but it would help the state budget which isn't the best right now nor has it been doing all that well over the last few years but that's another story.

I know this video is all over the web but man, what the fuck? Who the hell is this guy think he is? He built his bloody post-mayoral career on 9/11 and now he just forgets the past? What a joke.

Anyway...

School?

I've finally realized that I have to go back to school for what? I am not really sure but what is swirling around my head right now is something to do with being a financial advisor or something along those lines. Though I really have no idea how to go about it but I guess that is something I should be figuring out right about nowish? Eh I'll get it done before the summer and I have everything figured out by then and we'll see what happens when it happens.

I go back to work on Friday and I am looking forward to it. If this furlough has taught me anything is that I need an education and can no longer  just sit around and hope that the fortunes of CLV will change to where they once were and I can go back being complacent in my life as I have been over the years. That said I do love working at CLV and have for the last nine years it has only been the last year or so that has soured my opinion of the organization as of late. In the next year I see good things happening to CLV or at least increase in our enrollment to a bit over last summer so that we can stabilize and grow instead of shrink and die which would be a very horrible thing indeed and a great loss to Minnesota and Bemidji.

Not to even on a sad note.

Can I tell you something...

I am finally home!!! It's nice being in Rochester with the family but man there is nothing better coming home to my small and cleanish house. I mean sure the house was sort of in a wreck but no one had been here since the 22nd of December and I really couldn't ask Leiny or Barb to clean after the cats who cause all the mess in the first place like cats do.  I think my mail is being held at the post office cause the sidewalk wasn't shoveled at all either so I guess we'll see what happens on Monday? I have a few things of house keeping to do in the morning but after that the house will be clean!

Who watched Doogie Howser as a kid? Oh me! Right here! I loved the show and I think NPH was one of my first crushes as a kid...Ah youth! Anyway, Doogie Howser is on Hulu.com! Yes! When I am not listening to MPR or doing other awesome things it's now Doogie Howser and Mass Effect! How nerdy and awesome is that?

In closing... Dig a little deeper friends!
